How is it that Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway pays an annual dividend to the Hong Kong Government, while Transport for London is subsidised by £1bn a year?

Andrew Purves is a senior member of the School’s economics faculty. He has a special interest in the concept of Economic Rent, how it arises and how it is captured by the landlord, as well as how it can be maximised by the property developer. He is a successful businessman and, in 2015, published his first book: No Debt, High Growth, Low Tax – Hong Kong’s Economic Miracle Explained.

Speaker: Andrew Purves

The talk is open to all and free of charge (donations welcome to cover expenses).
